Mission Statement

The primary mission of this web site is to convey information about the happenings within our local and the secondary mission is to supply information about the happenings within the Alberta Teacher Association.

Here are some samples of what our teachers wrote in regards to the "I am proud to be a teacher because ..." and "I value ATA membership because ..." campaign.

I am proud to be a teacher because no matter how difficult the day has been I have made it a better day for someone else even if they don’t know it yet.

I value my ATA membership because it is my organization and it watches my back when I have to step into places and events others would never tread.

I am proud to be a teacher because I experience the wonderment of learning every day! Like the pride a parent feels watching a baby take a first step, seeing the joy of enlightenment is my reward.

I am proud to be a teacher because I can make a difference.

I am proud to be a teacher because I get to play, learn and have recess every day!

I value the ATA because it’s my security blanket; not used every day, but there when I need it!

I am proud to be a teacher because I feel that I am making a positive difference in the lives of my students. I am thankful to have the opportunity to encourage and help young people achieve success. Knowing that each student I teach realizes that he/she has at least one person in his/her life that cares is very important to me.

I value ATA membership because I feel that there is somewhere to take a problem if it arises, and that the problem will be dealt with objectively.…

I am proud to be a teacher becauseI have a major impact on the lives of children; and it is a noble profession.

I value ATA membership becauseof the protection member services provides and the professional code of conduct.

I am proud to be a teacher because …I get the opportunity to help students realize and develop their gifts.

I value the ATA membership because…I know that there are people working hard on my behalf.

I am proud to be a teacher because each day I have an opportunity to make the world a better place when I make positive differences in my students’ lives in a zillion ways each day.

I value the ATA membership because I belong to a greater good full of experience, wisdom and support that aids me in why I am proud to be a teacher!

I am proud to be a teacher because I can help children learn new ideas.

I value the ATA membership because it supports teachers and it governs the choices that they make.

I am proud to be a teacher because I can share my love of learning and knowledge with children. Teaching allows me to have far-reaching impacts on many people’s lives that might not otherwise be possible.

I value ATA membership because teaching in isolation is lonely and can be terrifying for a new teacher. Being a member of the ATA is a way for teachers to collaborate and become involved in what others are doing, rather than stay alone in the dark.

I am proud to be a teacher because kids are the future!

I am proud to be a teacher because I believe that my students love to learn. I love creating a genuine and encouraging classroom environment for kids from all different backgrounds.

I value ATA membership because they are a strong and vital support system for us as teachers and we don’t feel alone in improving education as well as looking after our selves.

I am proud to be a teacher because I feel that I make a difference in the lives of children every day. I provide a nurturing environment for my students where they can learn, grow, and succeed. I am proud each time my students make accomplishments and show that they are contributing members of society. Each day when my students leave, and I am left to see their artwork on the walls, their progress on the charts, and the “You’re my favorite teacher” notes on my desk, I am very proud to be a teacher.

I value ATA membership because I feel supported in my career. I feel that I work in a stable, caring and equal environment, where my needs are always considered and taken care of. The ATA ensures that all teachers are benefited and treated fairly.
